Model of Diversity and Gemma Collins Champion Plus-Size Representation at London Fashion Week

On Friday, 13th September, Model of Diversity (MoD), an organization dedicated to promoting diversity in the fashion industry, made a powerful and inspiring statement at London Fashion Week. Collaborating with a team of top industry professionals, including renowned photographer Zuzu Valla and acclaimed stylist Rebekah Roy, MoD launched a groundbreaking campaign to challenge the fashion industry’s long-standing, narrow beauty standards. Leading the charge alongside them was the iconic Gemma Collins, a television personality and advocate for body positivity, along with eight stunning plus-size models who brought energy and authenticity to the campaign.

The focal point of this innovative campaign was a mobile billboard that made its way through the streets of London. This billboard displayed a series of rotating images featuring Gemma Collins and a group of plus-size individuals, all dressed in stylish, on-trend clothing. The photos were bold, vibrant, and unapologetically beautiful, conveying that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. The mobile nature of the billboard ensured that the campaign was seen by a large audience, further amplifying its impact during the height of London Fashion Week.

This campaign was not just about showcasing fashion—it carried a deeper message of inclusivity and representation. MoD aimed to shine a spotlight on the fact that the fashion industry still falls short when it comes to representing a wide variety of body types, particularly during major fashion events like London Fashion Week. By prominently featuring plus-size models and Gemma Collins, who has been vocal about her journey with body confidence, the campaign sought to challenge the industry’s outdated notions of beauty and promote a more inclusive future.

In addition to the striking visuals, MoD’s campaign included a clear call to action. The organization urged fashion designers, brands, and event organizers to embrace diversity and ensure that their runways, advertisements, and campaigns reflect the true diversity of society. This means not only featuring more plus-size models but also including individuals of different ethnicities, genders, ages, and abilities.

The MoD campaign resonated with many, sparking conversations about the future of fashion and the importance of representation. By advocating for more inclusive standards, MoD and Gemma Collins highlighted the need for permanent change in an industry often criticized for its exclusivity.
