In this exclusive Vanity Teen editorial, we explore the fascinating conjunction of art and technique behind a unique editorial through an exclusive interview with photographer Lucas from Madrid.
Delving into the ins and outs of the process, we discover how to balance the artistic and technical aspects of image post-production, a delicate balance that defines the essence of this work.
Can you describe how you approached the visual narrative in this editorial?
What story were you trying to tell through your images?
The story we are trying to tell is that of a prince who lives a boring
life, and longs to be free like any other young man his age, and from
a certain point in the story he achieves it.

How did you decide on the specific camera and lens for this shoot? What were the technical considerations that guided your choice?
The camera I usually use is a Canon 5D Mark IV with the 50mm lens
since it is quite versatile.

Can you speak about how you used the location to reinforce the theme or
mood of this editorial? How did it add depth to your work?
The first part of the shooting was at Ghersi Studio, as it was the
perfect place for the shots and was set by art director Alex Bouting
to create the atmosphere that the story needed.

Could you elaborate on the artistic influences that shaped this editorial? How did these inspirations manifest in your final images?
The story began with photos of Prince Charles bored during the
coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953 and those of his grandson Prince
George, who also appears bored at different events.
It also has some references from Greek mythology, especially the
character Gaminedes, who stood out for his beauty.

How do you balance the artistic and technical aspects in post-production?
Could you share an example of a post-production decision that significantly altered an image in this editorial?
The images were edited with a natural aesthetic, basically correcting
tones or highlights but preserving the essence of the captured image.
The greatest alteration of the images was through the intervention of
the artist Juan Bertoni, who digitally painted the images, giving each
of them a more artsy appearance.

Can you talk about the collaboration between you and your team in the
development of this editorial? How did their contributions enhance the artistic vision of the project?
Each person on the team contributed to the project going forward, from
the fashion stylist who told the story with the looks in an aesthetic way, the art director creating the atmosphere, the makeup artist
creating a natural look highlighting the model’s features and the
artist Juan Bertoni painting the photos to give a plus to the
assistants during the execution of the project.
