JW Anderson has made a striking statement in the fashion world with their latest Fall/Winter 2024 collection, showcased in Milan. This season’s collection, which includes men’s fall/winter and women’s pre-fall attire, draws its daring inspiration from the 1999 erotic thriller, “Eyes Wide Shut,” directed by the legendary Stanley Kubrick.
The elements of this film, notably the curtains and the pervasive blood-red color theme, along with paintings by Kubrick’s wife, Christiane Kubrick, have profoundly influenced the designs. These tangible elements from the movie are integrated into the collection in a way that’s both comforting and unusual. Christiane’s artworks find their way onto knitted sweaters and accessories, adding a layer of depth and intrigue to the items. A recurring motif in the collection is the ‘Polycat’, a favorite among Stanley Kubrick’s many cats.
