The countdown for Ed Sheeran‘s eagerly awaited fifth studio album, “Subtract,” is nearing its end, with the official release set for May 5, 2023. The renowned British singer-songwriter has just unveiled a brand-new single and accompanying music video, featuring the very first song he wrote for the upcoming album.
Entitled “Boat,” the heartfelt track delves into Sheeran’s ongoing struggle with depression, backed by gentle guitar melodies that provide a contemplative ambiance for the poignant lyrics. The music video showcases Sheeran on the British coast, where he ventures into the turbulent ocean and is engulfed by fierce waves. In the climactic scene, an array of shattered objects is hurled into the water, soaring above Sheeran’s head as he belts out the powerful chorus, “Maybe I won’t, but the waves won’t break my boat.”
