JW Anderson and UNIQLO’s latest collection takes us sailing this spring.
This is not the first collaboration between UNIQLO and the London-based designer, who typically unite once a season. Again this time they manage to elegantly mix both the popular staples from Uniqlo and the impecable craftsmanship of Jonathan Anderson.
This season’s drop was titled “At home with sea” and takes inspiration from the British coastline, sailing and seaside culture. And this is a collection that doesn’t fear to meet many of the clichés you may expect from a nautical motif: white and blue, horizontal stripes, earth tones, and even embroidered sailboats are featured in some of the pieces.

All this is combined with some intense reds and greens, classic silhouettes, and pieces that make combining and layering effortless. The result is a relaxed nautic look, with that versatile and minimal touch that characterizes the Japanese firm.
The drop includes flowy dresses in natural hues and waterproof parkas, one pair of straight-leg jeans in a triad of different shades, a wrap skirt and polo shirts. The menswear goes for the oversized silhouette, with short and long-sleeve t-shirts in plain colors or with mismatched stripes. When it comes to accesorizing, the collection includes bucket hats and a classic tote bag.

Explaining his inspiration, Anderson said: “The sea has been integral to my life ever since I was a child. It inspired this collection, and I hope people enjoy incorporating this maritime styling in their wardrobes.”
With a brand of his own that keeps on growing, his position as Loewe’s creative director and most recently being appointed as the costume designer for Luca Guadagnino’s forthcoming tennis movie, Challengers, Jonathan Anderson definitely has a busy schedule and keeps us expecting his next move.
The full JW Anderson x UNIQLO collection launched online and in stores on March 18.
