The Laffounour / Downtown Gallery, globally acclaimed for spotlighting 20th-century modernist architects, embarks on a novel initiative with Luna Laffanour. Curated by Romain Bitton, the inaugural showcase titled ‘Trônes’ harmonizes gallery pieces with work by emerging artists. The spotlight is on New York artist Tim Wilson, whose paintings blend seamlessly with a variety of sculptural seats spanning from the 1950s to today. The exhibition, providing unexpected juxtapositions, provokes contemplation on the intersection of art and utility in design. Hosted at 72, rue de L’Université in Paris from May 31 to June 3, ‘Trônes’ promises an inspiring blend of tradition and contemporary creativity.

For this inaugural exhibition, titled ‘Trônes,’ Downtown+ engaged curator Romain Bitton to craft a compelling narrative that merges design pieces with paintings by Tim Wilson, a contemporary artist based in New York.
While exhibiting these furniture pieces accentuates their sacred dimensions, placing them in previously inhabited spaces reconnects them to their original functions, prompting questions about the dichotomy between practical objects and works of art. This challenge lies at the heart of ‘Trônes,’ set to take place in a beautiful venue at 72, rue de L’Université in Paris, from May 31 to June 3. This remarkable exhibition promises to be a feast for design enthusiasts and art lovers alike.
