In a refreshing fashion twist, Supreme debuts its 2023 Spring collection in alliance with New York’s artistic powerhouse, Bernadette Corporation. The collective, founded by Bernadette Van-Huy, John Kelsey, and Jim Fletcher, began as a one-night gathering in Club USA in 1994 and has since evolved into a force in fields like fashion, publishing, and fine arts.
Historically, Bernadette Corporation aimed to disrupt commercial norms in the art and fashion spheres, even referring to their group as a blend of humor and critique. Their brand engaged the fashion industry’s systemic appropriation of subcultures, leading to an ironic embrace by the very industry they parodied. This relationship culminated in the creation of their own publication, Made in USA.
Their work took a turn following the 2001 G8 protests, with the production of the experimental documentary, Get Rid of Yourself. Bernadette Corporation’s body of work is a testament to their deeply social nature.
Their latest venture with Supreme features a diverse range of items, including sports jackets, track pants, and Spalding basketballs. The collection launches in Supreme North America and Europe on May 18, hitting Japan on May 20.
