Everyone knows Rosalía and her ability to transform things, creating trends every time she comes up with an idea. She first shocked the music industry with her innovative sounds, mixing classical flamenco music with other genres, creating a very personal and original style. Besides music, she also changed fashion aesthetics.
Rosalía’s style revolutionized the fashion industry as well. Her incredibly long nails with amazing designs are a staple of her style, her tracksuits with flounces and flamenco elements, sporty elements combined with fine jewelry, and many other things. Her latest move follows this incredible talent of hers of combining tradition and her roots with current trends and 21st-century elements. The artist recently uploaded a video to her Instagram page in which we see her tying her Nike Air Force 1 in an unusual way. The sneakers are modified to look like espadrilles, with similar materials, the same sewing, and the same laces to be tied in the traditional way.
“I love my birthplace. I always speak Catalan, it’s part of what I am and what I do. I had the opportunity of designing a pair of Nike sneakers and I was inspired by a traditional shoe from my region that my grandfather used to wear all the time. He was always working, from 8 am to 8 pm. He was always walking from one place to another and he always wore the espadrilles, the shoe I took inspiration from. That’s why they are very special to me.”Rosalía in Adwoa Aboah‘s podcast ‘The Gurls Talk“
The espadrilles, derived from the Catalan word “espardenya”, are traditional rope-soled flat shoes typical of Spanish summer footwear, with strong historical ties to the regions of Catalonia and peasants from the XIV century. Inspired by Rosalía’s grandfather and Dalí, these amazing sneakers are becoming very popular like everything she does.
There is still no information about the launch of these amazing sneakers but we are sure they will become a success when they decide to launch the Nike Air Force 1 Espadrille, as Rosalía has named them.
