At the recent Antwerp Fashion Festival, Nadav Perlman unveiled his Spring–Summer 2027 collection, ROOTS, a deeply personal exploration of memory, belonging, and the invisible ties that connect us to the places that shaped us.
Rather than presenting a conventional runway show, Perlman chose a performative format that immersed the audience in the emotional landscape behind the collection. Through garments, movement, and atmosphere, ROOTS reflected on the experience of leaving home, carrying its essence across borders, and continually redefining one’s relationship with origin and identity.
At the heart of the collection lies the designer’s own story. Having left his childhood home to live abroad, Perlman describes how the place transformed in his memory, evolving into something almost sacred. The landscapes of his youth—mountains, low trees, and fertile soil—became symbols of permanence amid the uncertainty of adulthood.
The collection translates these reflections into fashion, capturing the tension between rootedness and movement. It speaks to the universal experience of longing for a place that exists both physically and emotionally: a home remembered, idealized, and carried within.
“Wherever I go, whatever I do, it begins from that place,” Perlman explains. The statement resonates throughout the collection, which meditates on the ways memories become foundations for ambition, dreams, and personal growth. Even as life pulls us toward new horizons, the roots remain embedded in the ground from which we first emerged.
With ROOTS, Perlman offers more than a seasonal wardrobe; he presents an intimate narrative about displacement, nostalgia, and the enduring hope of return. It is a reminder that home is not merely a location, but a living presence that accompanies us through every chapter of our journey.
A poetic and contemplative offering, ROOTS stands as one of the most emotionally resonant presentations of the season—a reflection on the places we leave behind, and the ways they never truly leave us.
