Pokémon x Polaroid: A Nostalgic Collaboration for Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary

Pokémon and Polaroid join forces for the franchise’s 30th anniversary, blending instant photography, collectible design and nostalgia in a limited-edition collection.

To celebrate Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, Polaroid is launching a limited-edition collaboration that brings the iconic franchise into the world of instant photography. The collection goes beyond simply giving some of the brand’s most recognizable products a new look, focusing instead on something the two worlds have in common: the value of memories and the pleasure of preserving them.

The line includes exclusive cameras, film, and accessories featuring Pokémon-inspired graphics and details. Highlights include the Poké Ball-inspired Polaroid Now and Polaroid Go cameras dedicated to Pikachu and Sylveon, alongside themed film and a selection of custom accessories.

Pre-orders will open on August 25, 2026, on Polaroid’s official website and at Pokémon Center in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada, while the worldwide launch is scheduled for October 5, 2026.

At first glance, the collaboration might seem like an unusual pairing. On one side is Pokémon, which began as a video game and has grown over the past three decades into one of the most recognizable names in pop culture. On the other is Polaroid, a brand closely associated with instant photography and the enduring appeal of analog images. What brings them together, however, is more than a visual crossover: nostalgia.

Both brands have built part of their identity around physical objects that can become lasting memories. Pokémon cards kept for years, old game cartridges, photo albums, and instant photographs may belong to different worlds, but they can all bring back moments from the past.

This is precisely what makes the partnership between Pokémon and Polaroid feel so natural. In an era dominated by digital content, cloud storage, and thousands of photos that often disappear into smartphone galleries, the collection brings back the pleasure of turning a moment into something physical. A Polaroid picture is not simply an image to look at; it becomes something to keep. Add Pikachu, Sylveon, and other familiar elements from the Pokémon universe, and photography naturally begins to overlap with collecting.

The result is a collection that looks to the past without simply celebrating it. For those who grew up with Pokémon in the 1990s and 2000s, the cameras tap into a familiar visual world. Meanwhile, for younger generations, they reinterpret that universe through an analog format that stands apart in an increasingly digital age. Pokémon x Polaroid ultimately brings together two forms of nostalgia while offering fans a new way to turn everyday moments into physical keepsakes.
