oqLiq SS27: RESONANCE Feels Like a Future We Already Know

RESONANCE feels like it just stepped out of a futuristic movie where not only the present, but the future itself, is under control. One perfect shade of grey, precise pattern cutting, technical fabrics and a strangely peaceful landscape. SS27, London.

Yesterday, Taiwan-based contemporary fashion label oqLiq unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, RESONANCE, as part of the London Fashion Week September 2026 Digital Schedule.

The collection explores the relationship between the body, material and environment, bringing together SUPIMA® cotton, wool, natural-fibre blends and functional textiles with oqLiq’s signature technical construction and experimental pattern cutting.

The world built around the collection feels surreal, but somehow familiar at the same time. Peaceful, almost too pure — like an ad for Earth from a future where everything has finally been figured out.

The digital presentation places a solitary figure between deep blue skies, still bodies of water, enormous mineral formations and moving clouds. Wind becomes visible through the fabric, while rocks, reflections and monumental structures create a landscape that sits somewhere between nature and architecture.

It feels a little like watching an architect explore a world of endless possibilities while still working within a very strict set of rules. The landscape is huge, but the clothes stay controlled. The colours are reduced to one tonal field, the silhouettes are precise, and every line seems to have a reason for being there.

Nothing feels added just for decoration.

The result is a collection where the environment almost becomes another material. Reflections echo across the fabrics, movement changes the shape of the garments, and the technical details become more noticeable against the almost empty landscape.

One Colour, A Lot Going On

The decision to keep the collection within a restrained grey palette makes the construction much easier to notice. Instead of relying on colour to create variation, oqLiq plays with shape, texture, volume and technical details.

Lines move across the body, creating different proportions as the wearer moves. Functional construction sits alongside natural fibres, while technical fabrics bring protection and breathability into the same wardrobe.

The material side of oqLiq deserves a little more attention too. Fabric development has clearly become an important part of the brand’s identity, rather than simply something that happens after the design is finished. One example is COOLTTON®, a fabric independently developed by oqLiq over three years by combining COOLMAX® and SUPPLEX® fibres. The resulting material is designed to combine moisture-wicking, breathability, durability and a soft, slightly elastic texture, with a small-grid ripstop structure for added strength.

That approach isn’t entirely new for the brand. oqLiq has previously worked with recycled PET, recycled wool and other recycled or repurposed materials, including a 2025 project using garment-recycling technology to turn discarded clothing fibres into new textiles.

But looking through the brand’s current material language, innovation seems to be just as important as recycling. Rather than relying on one sustainability solution, oqLiq has spent years developing fabrics around specific functions — breathability, water resistance, durability, temperature regulation and movement.

That makes the RESONANCE campaign’s obsession with nature slightly more complicated.

The collection talks about wind, water, climate, humidity and the relationship between the body and its environment, while the actual response isn’t necessarily to go entirely natural or recycled. Sometimes it is to engineer a new material that can deal with those conditions better.

For oqLiq, the answer to a changing environment seems to be less about going back to nature and more about developing materials that can keep up with it.
