Netflix Invests in ONE PIECE, the Highest-Grossing Manga
As the highest-grossing manga of all time, ONE PIECE rightfully deserves a substantial investment for its live-action adaptation. And, according to reports from Daily Dose of Anime and Sportskeeda, that’s exactly what it received. Netflix has allocated a massive $18 million USD budget for each episode, surpassing the budgets of major hits like Game of Thrones and The Mandalorian by $3 million USD.
Promising Signs for the 10-Episode Series
The staggering budget provides a promising glimpse into the upcoming 10-episode series. What’s more, the series creator, Eiichiro Oda, has taken on the role of executive producer, adding another layer of assurance for fans. Earlier this year, Oda shared a message revealing Netflix’s promise not to launch the series until he was fully satisfied with it.
Netflix’s Take on the Classic Manga Storyline
Netflix’s eagerly awaited adaptation remains true to the original manga plot. Audiences will accompany the Straw Hat Pirates on their turbulent quest to secure the One Piece treasure. The series features an ensemble cast, including Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, and Jacob Gibson as Usopp.
Anticipating the ONE PIECE Premiere
The first official trailer for ONE PIECE was unveiled earlier this month at Netflix’s annual Tudum 2023 event, whetting the appetites of fans worldwide. The first episode of the series is slated for release exclusively on Netflix on August 31. This epic adaptation is one to watch, marking a significant milestone for live-action anime series.
