If you believed that the Covid-19 pandemic would end in 2021, all of you were wrong. Yes, as a society we have gotten used to living with it, but big productions and the world of entertainment continue to have difficulties. Such is the case with the Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy, which continues in the early stages of production thanks to the virus.
This was made known by the British actor Tom Hopper who, in an interview with Collider, announced that the recording of the third season of the acclaimed series has had its delays due to the pandemic and the health protocols to protect the cast, production, and the other workers.
“Well, the COVID protocols mean that we have shorter days, which means that the actual length of the shoot is going to be a lot longer,” Hopper revealed in the interview. “But yeah, we’re really near the beginning. We’re not that far into it at the moment, so we’ve got a long way to go, but it’s good.” He added, “The great thing is the material, the work is amazing, so every day on set is, like I say, a joy and so much fun.”
In turn, the actor commented that the production of the third season would begin in February of this year, but the plans changed. However, despite the problems, Hopper does not hide his happiness since – also – he’s part of the cast of the next Resident Evil movie (Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City).

“I think we were actually supposed to originally shoot a little bit earlier. I’m not sure. The only thing, the good thing that came out of it was it allowed me to shoot Resident Evil because Resident Evil was probably originally going to be a clash, but then that allowed me to shoot that.”
On this occasion, Hopper will be in charge of giving life to one of the greatest antagonists of the Resident Evil saga: Albert Wesker. If there are no delays and problems in production, the film will be released on November 24 of this year.
Returning to the main theme, Tom Hopper, who plays Luther Hargreeves (Number One), is happy with the work of the production, the writers, and the actors who work alongside him to bring audiences a new season of The Umbrella. Academy.
“The scripts are so great, season three, it’s really such a joy to be doing it. I feel very privileged to be a part of this show. And I think the best thing really is that we’re all so comfortable with each other now. So it feels like we can really hit the ground running from a creative standpoint and we’ve got the same crew, most of the same crew. And I think we know who these characters are and who we are playing and I think when we work with each other, we’re very aware, of how to react in these scenes. So as a family, I think we’re in a great place and it’s like we’re a good sports team, I suppose, when a sports team really finds that flow, and they go on a winning streak. It feels a bit like that.”
There is still no specific date for the launch of the third season of The Umbrella Academy. However, as time goes by, uncle Netflix and the actors – surely – will be in charge of showing us previews to calm the cravings and continue waiting for the continuation of one of the most popular superhero series of the moment.
