The latest installment in the ever-popular Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise received an impressive $17.5 million USD from Thursday night previews, which are included in the opening day total.
Projected Opening Weekend Box Office
With the early numbers in, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is on track to reach a staggering $110 million USD to $120 million USD during its opening weekend. If these projections hold true, it will secure the second-highest opening of the year, trailing behind the Super Mario Bros. Movie – featuring Guardians’ lead Chris Pratt – which raked in $146 million USD. However, the anticipated total for Vol. 3 falls short of its predecessor, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, by approximately $20 million USD.
