Onn June 29, the Exhibition collective will unveil a special edition magazine, born of a unique collaboration between photographer Guido Mocafico and artificial intelligence.
Because algorithms have been taking over the artistic field for several years now, this special issue is an invitation to rethink the contours of creativity. A reflection rooted in the DNA of Exhibition magazine, which already questioned the creative capacity of generative algorithms (GAN) a few years ago in an article devoted to DALL-E artificial intelligence.
Always in search of exploration and new iconography, Exhibition asked photographer Guido Mocafico to enter into dialogue with artificial intelligence to reinvent Chanel‘s emblematic N°5 fragrance. An infinite source of inspiration for the greatest artists, the iconic status of the bottle takes on a new twist, at the intersection of art, beauty and technology.
It is also very interesting to observe that AI is not infallible or without error, and the output does not constitute an accurate representation of CHANEL’s registered trademark.
A true conversation is created between artist and machine, giving rise to a series of stunning images. As the photographer guides the algorithm with his or her inspirations, experiences and affect, the algorithm integrates them, providing a sensitive creative response. The series is the fruit of a unique artistic complicity, in which sensitivity also finds its place, as in a collaboration between two artists. A telling example for the Exhibition collective, which once again explores how AI can be used as a tool to enrich and explore human creativity.
Far from replacing the artist’s signature, then, artificial intelligence is transforming the creative landscape, opening up new and exciting possibilities for creators.
