Fashion retail spaces are often designed to be experienced. Rarely are they designed to be inhabited.
For six days only, LIMI feu transforms Yohji Yamamoto’s Wooster Street flagship in New York into something closer to a living artwork than a boutique. Running from June 9 to June 14, the exclusive residency blurs the boundaries between fashion, installation, and artistic expression, offering visitors an intimate glimpse into the creative universe of designer Limi Yamamoto.
At the heart of the project is a captivating collaboration with Japanese artist Eri Wakiyama, whose dreamlike visual language becomes both the backdrop and the protagonist of the residency. To mark the opening on June 9, guests were invited into an immersive environment conceived by Limi Yamamoto herself—a space where clothing, drawing, memory, and imagination collide.
The occasion also unveiled a limited-edition capsule collection created exclusively for the residency. Featuring four graphic T-shirts and a statement shirt adorned with Wakiyama’s artwork, the collection captures the poetic tension that defines both creatives: delicate yet rebellious, intimate yet unmistakably bold.
But the collaboration extends far beyond the garments.
Throughout the store, Wakiyama’s illustrations unfold across the space like fragments of a personal diary. Some works were created specifically for the residency, while others emerge from the artist’s archive, creating a layered visual narrative that invites visitors to step inside her imagination. The result is an environment where fashion becomes a medium and the store itself becomes a canvas.
Rather than presenting art and clothing as separate disciplines, LIMI feu and Eri Wakiyama orchestrate a dialogue between the two. Every drawing, silhouette, and installation element contributes to a larger story—one that reflects a shared fascination with individuality, emotion, and creative freedom.
