Bianca Saunders presents its Pre-Fall 2021 collection named “The Pedestrian” at Gucci Fest, which plays with proportions, fluidity, movement, and textures. Drawing inspiration from the work “The Ideal Man” by the photographer Hans Eijkelboom from 1978, Saunders took a closer look at its Spring-Summer 2021 collection with the same name and went a step further for this collection.
Saunders finds character in clothing, narrative through construction, and the multiplicity of “ideals” within us. She has evolved her ideas of fluidity, drape, and captured movement, working directly on the mannequin throughout lockdown, enabling her to explore “the in-between”: those that find their own space from the presumed archetypes of gender.
“I am always interested in our characters, and how to express this through clothing. I was thinking about my ideal man and customer, representing them through my signatures of cut and construction.”
says Bianca Saunders.
