Nearly forty years after the Air Max debut, Nike introduces Air Max Dolce, reimagining an icon through a sculptural new silhouette. The launch extends beyond the sneaker with Dolce XOXO, an exhibition giving a new generation of artists space to reinterpret the Air Max Dolce through their own visual languages.

Nearly forty years after the debut of the first Air Max, Nike evolves one of its most iconic silhouettes with Air Max Dolce, a new interpretation that blends the line’s heritage with a contemporary aesthetic at the intersection of streetwear and fashion.

Defined by a sculptural design and a laceless construction that adapts to the wearer’s foot, Air Max Dolce is available in two colorways: Light Magenta, released in late August, and a new Silver version, which launched on September 12.
The Air Max story began in 1987 and, over nearly four decades, the silhouette has evolved into a true cultural icon for Nike. While its design and aesthetic language have continued to change, the line has never lost its identity. Instead, it has adapted to an audience that is increasingly style-conscious and closely connected to the worlds of fashion and contemporary culture.

The launch of Air Max Dolce, however, went beyond the introduction of a new sneaker or colorway. Nike turned the project into a platform for a new generation of creatives, giving emerging artists and designers the opportunity to reinterpret the silhouette through their own perspectives, ideas and visual languages.
Inside the Air Max Dolce Launch Event

Through SNKRS, the creatives involved developed their own interpretations of Air Max Dolce, exploring the product beyond its purely fashion-driven dimension. Their work was later brought together in the Dolce XOXO exhibition, featuring contributions from Common Index, Luna Mahoux, Sara Sadik, Brennan Wojtyla, Tudor Ciurescu, Hollywood Superstar Review, Forniture Pallotta, Emir Karyo and Mika Ben Amar, alongside a live performance by London-based experimental duo Rat Section.

Bringing together digital culture, contemporary art, technology, music and new forms of creative expression, Dolce XOXO reflects Nike’s aim to provide a new generation with a space to experiment, create and contribute to the wider cultural conversation.

At the heart of the project is a clear idea: to transform Air Max Dolce from a product into a lens through which to observe and interpret contemporary culture. The sneaker becomes a starting point for different creative perspectives to explore themes such as identity, technology and experimentation, while demonstrating Air Max’s ability to evolve without losing its connection to its heritage.
