London-based menswear brand _J.L-A.L_, led by designer Jean-Luc Ambridge Lavelle, announces the launch of its second collaboration collection with Goldwin today. Known for its distinctive pattern-cutting techniques and experimental approach to structure and material, _J.L-A.L_ continues to expand its design language through this ongoing collaboration.
This collection builds on Ambridge’s previous involvement as a designer for Goldwin 0. Together, the two brands introduce a uniquely constructed down jacket featuring disappearing seam lines and transitioning panel structures, showcasing refined technical apparel craftsmanship. Details such as shirred hood construction and minimalist cuff design highlight a thoughtful balance of function and form.
A standout piece in the lineup is the fleece jacket, shaped with _J.L-A.L_’s characteristic three-dimensional panel architecture, presenting a forward-thinking perspective on the role of garments in contemporary life. The fabric combines:
(1) Brewed ProteinTM fiber blended with silk.
A next-generation material developed by Spiber, produced using plant-derived raw ingredients through advanced biosynthesis. The protein-based fiber offers a smooth finish and supple hand feel while reducing environmental and animal-welfare impact.
(2) A plant-based biomass plastic *PlaX fleece base.
A re-engineered polylactic acid-based fiber developed by Bioworks, improving strength, function, and dyeability without the use of petroleum-derived materials.
(3) *SYN-GRID technology, a system co-developed by Goldwin and Synflux.
The pattern-making process was optimized to reduce fabric waste by approximately 50%, while maintaining the functional performance and sculptural silhouette that define the piece.
