The North Face introduces the Summit Nuptse and Pertex Reversible Nuptse, two fresh interpretations of its legendary puffer jacket that bring together technical innovation, versatility and contemporary style.
Few outdoor jackets have achieved the cultural status of The North Face Nuptse. Since its debut in 1992, the distinctive puffer has travelled far beyond its mountaineering origins, becoming a staple of urban wardrobes and a recognizable symbol of outdoor-inspired fashion. More than three decades later, the brand is giving its signature silhouette a new perspective with the introduction of the Summit Nuptse and Pertex Reversible Nuptse, both available through The North Face’s official website and selected retailers.
While both designs retain the visual identity that made the original so popular, each explores a different direction, from high-altitude performance to everyday versatility.
Summit Nuptse: A Technical Evolution
Designed with serious mountain exploration in mind, the Summit Nuptse represents a more technical interpretation of the classic jacket. Developed alongside The North Face athletes, it aims to deliver exceptional warmth without unnecessary weight, combining advanced insulation with a lightweight, durable construction.

Its recycled nylon shell incorporates ultralight ripstop panels reinforced with Spectra® fibers, while CLOUD DOWN™ technology helps retain warmth and makes the jacket easier to pack. The 800-fill ProDown™ insulation adds another layer of protection, maintaining its insulating properties even in damp conditions.
Visually, the jacket stays close to its roots with the familiar color-blocked design, but introduces a significant new feature: the first insulated hood in the Nuptse line. Adjustable and compatible with a climbing helmet, it reinforces the jacket’s technical character without compromising its recognizable silhouette.

Pertex Reversible Nuptse: Urban Style
Taking a more lifestyle-oriented direction, the Pertex Reversible Nuptse focuses on adaptability and design. Its reversible construction offers two distinct aesthetics within a single jacket, making it a versatile option for both outdoor adventures and city life.

One side features a cleaner, more minimal appearance, while the reverse celebrates the original Nuptse aesthetic through its signature oversized baffles and contrasting color panels.
Beyond its visual appeal, the jacket incorporates Pertex® Quantum fabric, offering wind resistance and water repellency, alongside 700-fill recycled down insulation. A relaxed fit, articulated sleeves and adjustable details further enhance comfort and functionality, creating a piece that moves naturally between technical outerwear and contemporary streetwear.

Celebrating 60 Years of Exploration
The launch comes at a particularly meaningful moment for The North Face, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026. Founded in 1966, the brand has built its identity around exploration and technical innovation, while gradually establishing a strong presence in fashion and street culture.
The evolution of the Nuptse reflects this dual identity. Originally created to withstand challenging mountain conditions, the jacket has become a timeless wardrobe essential, appreciated as much for its functionality as for its unmistakable design.
