What happens when a lamp stops behaving like furniture and starts acting like the main character?

GRAU has an answer, and it comes in red.
The German lighting brand is giving its iconic Parrot floor lamp a new identity in an intense, warm shade with orange undertones, transforming an already distinctive silhouette into an object with a little more attitude.
Less wallflower, more scene-stealer.

Designed by Timon and Melchior Grau, Parrot has always challenged the conventions of domestic lighting. Its rounded head, slender body and sculptural base give it an almost human presence, while its cordless construction allows it to move freely between rooms. It is a lamp that refuses to stay in its corner.
Red simply makes that personality impossible to ignore.

For the launch, photographer Alessio Bolzoni turns the object into the protagonist of a playful visual experiment. Bodies defy gravity, models lie on the floor or stand on their heads, and Parrot remains upright amid the chaos. Borrowing the visual irreverence of fashion imagery, the campaign flips the rules of perspective to make one point clear: the most interesting object in the room does not need to follow its inhabitants.

The colour is more than a seasonal update.
Its anodized finish gives the aluminium surface a vivid luminosity, introducing warmth and visual tension into restrained interiors.
Red becomes a form of spatial punctuation, a chromatic interruption that makes minimalism feel less predictable.

The release also reflects GRAU’s wider evolution. Founded by Tobias Grau in 1987, the company has moved from pioneering LED lighting towards a more expressive vision of design under the creative direction of the next generation.
Since its 2022 rebranding, the brand has increasingly explored light as an emotional experience rather than a purely functional necessity.
Parrot embodies that shift: mobility, considered engineering and a recognizable sculptural form converge in an object that feels as much like a character as a piece of equipment.

Powered by an integrated rechargeable battery and equipped with a 360-degree rotating head, it remains practical without sacrificing its visual presence.

Parrot in Red is GRAU at its most playful: functional design with a pulse, a silhouette with personality, and a reminder that even the most considered interior needs an element of surprise.
