In the quiet space between discipline and desire, between gesture and emotion, Maison Repettofinds itself once again in motion. With In Bloom, the storied French house expands its universe beyond dance and into something more elusive: a meditation on transformation, authorship, and the body as a site of expression.

Founded in 1947 by Rose Repetto just steps away from the Paris Opera, the Maison has long been synonymous with the rigor and grace of classical dance. Its signature stitch-and-returntechnique—devised to grant unparalleled softness and precision—became a second skin for generations of dancers, from Rudolf Nureyev to Mikhail Baryshnikov

Yet In Bloom does not simply honour this lineage; it distills and reinterprets it through a contemporary, deeply personal lens.

At the centre of this new chapter is Kaia Gerber, who enters the Maison not merely as a face, but as an author. Granted carte blanche, Gerber initiates a process of immersion—months of training, repetition, and physical inquiry—guided by choreographer Fanny Sage across Paris, Los Angeles, and London. What emerges is not performance in the conventional sense, but a form of embodied thinking: movement as language, gesture as revelation.

Directed by Neels CastillonIn Bloom unfolds as a poetic short film where narrative dissolves into sensation. Alone in a studio after a photoshoot, Gerber begins to move—tentatively, almost imperceptibly—before surrendering to an inner rhythm. Inspired by the choreographic language of Pina Bausch, her body becomes both subject and medium, articulating a silent dialogue between fragility and control, restraint and release.

Shot on 16mm, the film lingers on texture: the grain of the image, the softness of shadow, the subtle intrusion of light. Time appears suspended. Costumes, hand-crafted by the Paris Opera’s atelier, do not merely adorn but accompany, tracing the contours of each gesture. Sound, too, plays its part—oscillating between classical restraint and modern intensity—mirroring the tension at the heart of the work.

Extending beyond the film, the collaboration takes form in a capsule collection co-created by Gerber and Repetto. Drawing on the understated sensuality of French muses such as Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin, as well as the radical femininity of Bausch, the collection revisits two archetypes: the ballerina and the Mary Jane. The reimagined Cendrillon gains subtle height and presence, while the Pina introduces structure and balance through a sculpted heel and delicate strap. Each piece is crafted in France, bearing the imprint of the Maison’s enduring savoir-faire—and Gerber’s own handwritten signature, an intimate gesture of authorship.

With In Bloom, Repetto enters uncharted territory, embracing a form of collaboration that is neither campaign nor collection alone, but a total artistic experience. It is here, in this interplay of body, image, and craft, that the Maison reveals a new dimension of itself—one that does not simply move, but evolves.
