The hip-hop community has long been plagued by violent crimes, and sadly, the murder of XXXTentacion is no exception. Although we wish we could report a decrease in such incidents, reality tells us otherwise. However, justice has been served in this case, as the three killers of XXXTentacion, Dedrick Williams, Michael Boatwright, and Trayvon Newsome, have been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The trio, accused of murdering the artist (whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy), appeared in Broward County Court in Florida, where Judge Michael Usan sentenced them to life. While they were not given the death penalty, the three convicted individuals will not be eligible for parole or early release due to good behavior, ensuring they will spend the remainder of their lives behind bars.
Following the sentencing, Solomon Sobande, the late artist’s former manager, read a statement saying, “It’s a loss we’ll never recover from. We’ll never have the chance to see Jahseh’s full potential, never have the chance to see him grow older, never be able to see him become a father.”
XXXTentacion was fatally shot on June 18, 2018, outside a motorcycle store in Florida. The rapper was only 20 years old, and his killers fled with $50,000 in cash in a Louis Vuitton bag he was carrying. In March, nearly five years after his tragic and violent death, the three suspects were found guilty of first-degree murder. Boatwright and Newsome were identified as the triggermen, while Williams was pegged as the mastermind behind the crime and the getaway driver following the unfortunate event.
