Off-White™ (I.G. @off____white) teams up with Italian brand Ginori 1735 (I.G. @ginori1735) to create a homeware collection that has instantly attracted all eyes. The unexpected collaboration fuses Virgil Abloh’s contemporary design motifs with the late baroque of Florentine silverware. The key here lies in the aesthetic balance of the artistic movements.
The porcelain set is just the first chapter in this collaborative story, which will extend into several drops throughout 2022. The century-old tradition of Manifattura Ginori embraces here the contemporary luxury and street language of Off-White’s creative director. The Antica Doccia house line, whose arched shapes are inspired by late Baroque Florentine silverware, are minimized to create a white, polished look, on which Abloh experiments through airbrushing.
That contrast between graffiti art and classical tradition is precisely what appeals, and what makes the designs eternal, as Abloh says: “The encounter between the modernity of a logo and the art of graffiti combined with the unmistakable heritage of Ginori 1735 is proof that good design can live forever”.
This first Off-White x Ginori 1735, released to embellish your spaces, is composed by plates, platters, teapots, and tea saucer sets. All of them dressed in the streetwear brand’s signature black and white color palette.
The “HOME” collaboration, which was presented at Off-White’s Milan store through an immersive installation, is available now at off— white.com, select Off-White™ boutiques, Ginori’s website, Milan Flagship store, and Farfetch.
