“I was looking back through my photo album at the last exhibitions I managed to visit, in my past life. I went to a gallery where I saw James Rosenquist’s pictures of lipstick prints, and they felt very empowering to women and very effective visually. They have a sensoriality of color and smell, and there is such a vivid impact to his work that catches you. I also liked that, on another layer, it was questioning our world of mass consumption – so it felt like a way to have a political message for those who know his work, but just to be pop art for those who are seeing it for the first time.”
