Stella McCartney, the British luxury fashion pioneer, showcased her Winter 2023 collection at Paris Fashion Week, featuring innovative animal-free and cruelty-free alternatives. Key items included the brand’s iconic Frayme and S-Wave bags, made from AppleSkinTM, a vegan leather crafted from apple waste in Northern Italy. This sustainable material, developed by Mabel Industries and Frumat, is part of McCartney’s mission to create a zero-waste, environmentally friendly fashion industry. AppleSkinTM, a versatile, waterproof, and durable material, is utilized in various bag styles and embossed to mimic crocodile skin without the ethical and humane concerns associated with exotic skins. PETA reports Vietnam alone exports 30,000 crocodile skins annually, often involving inhumane practices. McCartney’s bags also feature organic cotton, recycled polyester linings, and zero-waste zamac components. The collection is available in Stella McCartney boutiques and selected retailers worldwide from August 2023.
