Parisian Nostalgia Ingrained in Fashion
In a striking nod to its origins, K-Way® transports a piece of Paris to the bustling BasicVillage, showcasing their Fall/Winter 2023 R&D collection. Recreating the setting that birthed the iconic rainproof jacket 58 years ago, this set features white and green woven chairs and timeless café tables with marble tops outlined in gold, straight from the famous Café de la Paix.
The Birth of an Icon
On a rainy day in 1965, Léon-Claude Duhamel conceived the original packable rain jacket. His inspiration? A simple scene at Place de l’Opéra—a mother rushing past with two children in vibrant red nylon jackets. From this spark of inspiration, the K-Way® brand came into being, eventually becoming a fixture in both the French and Italian cultural lexicon.
A Living Catwalk
The K-Way® Autumn/Winter 2023 show steps away from the traditional runway concept, transforming it into an animated, real-world tableau. The audience is not just spectators—they become active participants in a scene that echoes the everyday Parisian street. Models gracefully navigate the café scene, showcasing the most advanced and aesthetically pleasing offerings from K-Way®.
Innovative Design Meets Classic Aesthetics
The R&D collection is a masterful marriage of high-impact design, innovative materials, and technical prowess. The ambiance’s colors—cream and green chairs, and blue furnishings—are mirrored in the collection, accompanied by K-Way®’s iconic orange tape and timeless black.
From winter wear that reimagines classic styles like bomber, puffer, and anorak jackets to Bermuda shorts and trousers boasting billowing volumes, the collection experiments with dimension, length, and texture. Distinct layers fuse practicality with a playful spirit, culminating in a dynamic and striking look.
Sustainable Future in Focus
For K-Way®, innovation isn’t an excuse to overlook the environment. The collection features natural fabrics like jacquard cottons, mohair, and merino wool, as well as those derived from sustainable processes. The commitment to sustainability extends to details such as the interior padding of puffer jackets, composed of recycled down.
H2: Balancing Aesthetics with Performance
Technical performance remains a staple for K-Way®, showcased by the incorporation of high-visibility Majocchi REFLECTIVE fabric among others. This unique fashion show experience, blurring the boundaries between Paris and Milan, will continue its journey beyond Italy’s fashion capital, culminating later this year.
