ASICS has unveiled its latest sneaker, the GEL-FLEXKEE™ 958, a fresh collaborative effort with OTTO 958—a fusion of avant-garde fashion label Kiko Kostadinov and renowned art gallery Morán Morán. This novel take on the ASICS GEL-FLEXKEE™ silhouette, initially designed with skateboarders in mind at the ASICS Sports Engineering Laboratory, stands out for its distinct sole with a separate forefoot zone.
The shoe’s design highlights include an asymmetric lacing system, a synthetic leather body, and a unique quilted toe box. A striking tongue detail with an enlarged flap not only covers the laces but also showcases the prominent ‘O’ logo of OTTO 958 in raised embroidery. Another logo adorns the heel, ensuring brand visibility from every angle.
For the fashion-forward, two initial colorways—Gunmetal/Black and Hunter Green/Black—are available, with another hue set to launch later this year. The shoe’s durability and design were showcased in a captivating campaign shot in Athens, Ohio, at Lizzie Fitch and Ryan Trecartin’s iconic location, centered around a vast drained lazy river. The campaign culminates in a mesmerizing six-minute film, painting a vivid picture of the shoe’s aesthetic and functionality.
